Photography
I have never really explored the realm of photography that much. It doesn't strike a huge interest with me. Therefore, I don't really know much about photo editing except for changing filters. I don't really post anything on social media, but if I did I would alter the pictures that much because I wouldn't take the time. I usually take photos with my IPhone and just keep them stored in its memory.

Digital Age
The digital age has a lot o perks to cash in on. Communication is much easier and more convenient with people all over the world. The new technology also grants better medical treatment and improves overall health. New technology allows for much quicker and more convenient transportation. Nowadays, cars are much cheaper and nicer. The only thing I really dislike about the technology is that it can lead to a lack of connection and communication skills. On the flip side, elderly people are now able to talk to and facetime their other family members and can really keep family bonds strong. Technology is something that makes our life easier as it becomes more advanced and ubiquitous, but also leads to a dependence where we would be completely lost without it.

"Cross Country" Project
It was definitely a different experience to try to create a project without communicating with my partner. I am glad I had the opportunity because this is a realistic simulation that I could face later down the line. Luckily I could still call or txt my future partner, so it will be easier to elaborate on ideas. I would not want to do business like this on a regular basis because it would become exhausting, however, I wouldn't want to have a job creating certain projects all of the time anyway.

My Website
I am really glad we got the opportunity to design a website. It is a skill that is very applicable to the real world and it a lot easy then most people would assume. Wix had great designs and made templates very useful, so all we had to do was insert information, however I think it would be really cool o try and start from scratch. That way we could make the website anything we wanted and therefore, would be more prepared to design a website in the future if needed. Weebly is a great tool and many of my teachers has their own weeblys. In the future I will try to use weebly instead and test out that program.

Apps
Yes I can imagine m life without apps. I lived perfectly fine before apps and I am not dependent on them now. I use them everyday like the YouTube app on my phone or the I funny app, but those apps don't make my life any easier. They aren't convenience apps but enjoyment apps. I do use the Gmail app which makes checking and replying to emails significantly easier. That would be a difficult app to lose. I also have recently started using the audible app to listen to a book on tape that I must read for school.

Global Issue
I did enjoying learning about the global issue, but a good portion of the information I had previously been exposed to. I would select a different issue if I had the chance just to learn about something different. It would have been nice to do the project in a different way. I liked the movie maker portion since that was new, but the essay was kind of self explanatory and didn't use any emerging technologies. Mind mapping was cool but I don't think it was very practical. You only really make the map once and it can be done in your head instead. Symbaloo was very intriguing and I wish we would have spent more time on that.

Top Ten Presentation Tips
1. Eye Contact
2. No more than 5 words on a slide.
3. Bring in information as you talk about It to draw attention to it.
4. Make an outline slide with the topics you will be addressing and refer to it throughout the presentation.
5. Cite Sources.
6. Use photos and animations to draw attention to certain concepts and evoke emotion.
7. Use statistics for logical appeal.
8. Embed helpful audio such as a video, song, or a recording to explain a topic or create an environment.
9. Make it flow easily and don't have too many slides.
10. Don't lay out a speech before hand. Think about what points you are going to say, but when we repeat a speech verbatim it becomes monotonous and boring. Show your passion for a topic by explaining and talking about it as you go. The best presentations have a small element of improvisation. In order to do this, you will need to have a very confident understanding of your topic.

ROYALS!!!!!!
I enjoyed watching the Royals game at my house last night with friends and family. My mom bought ribs, fries, coleslaw, and baked beans from Oklahoma's Joes. It was a lot of fun even though I am not a huge baseball fan. My favorite part of winning is by far the fact that there will be no school tomorrow. I won't go to the parade, but it will give me more time to get ahead on my homework and semester assignments.

Infographic
An info graphic is a visual information tool used to express an idea. It is great for educating an audience because it not only includes text and statistics, but also visuals that are engaging. It is similar to PowerPoint except it is a single slide or poster. It is organized based on topics, subtopics, data, and the conclusion/thesis. I don't prefer to use info graphics because they become more work than what they are worth. I usually find them tedious and not that needed. I would rather do a visual using Publisher, and I would prefer not to do a visual at all. All major and professional documents do not have visuals. News articles, districtations, and medical articles. They may have one picture or image but the bulk is devoted to text and evidence/data. Info-graphics can be helpful, but they are not very practical in the long term.

Agricultural Drones
The
story is based off California winemaker and drone operator Ryan Kunde. Drones
doe Kunde are a simply low-cost aerial camera platform. They can monitor
temperature, cloud formations, crop locations, crop yields, and many other
important farming factors. This is all taking place in California just outside
of San Francisco. The drone also take aerial infrared photographs to monitor
the water intake and heat of the crops. It is also much cheaper than crop
imagining with a manned aircraft, which can run $1,000 an hour. It is all
leading toward the trend of data-driven agriculture.
This relates to emerging technologies because drones
are becoming more prominent in today’s world. They are used in military actions
all over the world, and have become quite controversial. Drones are also under
production for the use of mail transfer for Amazon. Here, we find they have a
very practical and powerful use in gathering data about agriculture. This
technology is affordable and can lead to higher crop yields. That would have a
ripple effect all around the world that could greatly reduce world hunger and
famine.
Interesting fact: The drone can fly up to speeds of
150mph and remain as close to the crops as 120 meters.

Do less with more focus
Do less with more focus. To me that means that with more focus you can be more productive and get things done in a quicker fashion. It could also mean that you should sacrifice the extrinsic tasks and pay more ficus to the significant problems. I do believe that i love kira higgins certain problems are far more prominent than others, and it is those problems that deserve more attention so they're solutions become clear. Time is the most valuable resource in the world. You can never get more of it. It is what you chose to do with that time that allows you to make the differences in the world.

Study habits
The U.S. is 17th in education. China excels at math and India excels at science. The U.S.A. an its students are apathetic and lazy. They choose not to take their education seriously. It isn't attacking the U.S. i believe it is satirizing the problem and stereotype we face. Sure there is truth to the picture, but I think the artist is trying to reinforce the importance of effort towards education.

My homecoming weekend was pretty great. I worked a lot but i also have time to hangout with friends and get a lot done. I cleaned up the garage because my mom was coming home on Friday night an i knew it would cheer her up. I managed to do all of my laundry and homework also.

Base of Persuasive Essay
Thesis: I believe that significant strides can be made in the fight against cancer with your help.
3 Strongest Arguments: Risk Factors, Community Support, and Cancer Research, respectively. These arguments are the most common and the least nerdy, therefore, I will develop more support.
I would like to increase the awareness of the risks of cancer. A lot of the bad habits we have now can have detrimental lasting effects in the future.

10 years from now
10 years from now I will be out of medical school and in a residency for a specific specialty I am interested in. I am interested in surgery and specifically cardio thoracic or neurosurgery. They interest me because they are more challenging types of surgery and surgery itself is very direct in its form of treatment. Surgeons don't prescribe patients with medicine and ask them to come back in a few months to check the effects and results. Instead they diagnose the patient and then treat them. It is very trait forward and quite amazing how it all works. I love medicine and everything about medicine, so I can't really imagine my life without it.
My plans are pretty much the same. I am dreaming big, but i am also being realistic. I am very interested int being a doctor. I would also like to conduct independent research if I am given the chance. It would be incredibly fascinating to study diseases in a closed environment.

Extinction and Overpopulation
Extinction and Overpopulation are too huge issues that the human race faces today. to be honest a large part of me isn't particularly concerned with extinction of certain species because it is natural selection. Animals have been dying, going extinct, and evolving for hundreds of millions of years. The only reason it is different now is because humans have morality and compassion that sets up apart from any other species. Because we are so superior, we view it as our duty to save other species.
Not only do we need to address the populations of other organisms, but humanity must look at our own exponential growth and resource depletion. Every resource is scarce and Earth will either slowly perish from pollution, or we can save it and make our best attempt to reverse the centuries of damage that have already been done. The third option ,however, is relocation of the human population to other earth-like planets. Only time will tell what will happen.
The human race isn't the only species that has dangerous exponential growth. About two decades ago a handful of lionfish were released of the eastern coast of the united states. Lionfish themselves are harmless; however, they have several venomous spikes projected from their body. This defense is so insurmountable that lionfish have absolutely no natural predators. What happens when a species has no natural predator and inhabits the perfect environment? Exponential growth. Population densities continue to increase in the invaded areas, resulting in a population boom of up to 700% in some areas between 2004 and 2008. What's even worse is that lionfish will eat almost anything. They gorge and overeat to the point of liver disease. They are one of the most aggressive invasive species and have destroyed 90% of the biodiversity on the eastern coast, the gulf, and the Caribbean.

5 Global/Domestic Issues
1. Cancer. It can be cancer research or cancer treatment. Cancer affects many people indifferently and is extremely ubiquitous. It is a major world issue and has been since the 1960s with Dr. Farber and Madam Curie
2. Disease. This is kind of my fill in for cancer because there are thousands of diseases and disorders that need to be brought up. influenza alone kills millions of people every season. This is the same with malaria as it is an extreme determent to sub-Saharan African populations.
3. Poverty. I will address the wealth gap, income gap, and the reason behind why poverty cycles in a population.
4. Extinction and overpopulation in animals. Why species go extinct and the extinction vortex. Also need to address populations that are growing exponentially like lionfish and humans. 100 heartbeat club.
5. Oppressive governments. ie. North Korea. These governments oppress their people and are essentially enslaving them. It damages the future of the country and world relations.

Social Bookmarking CE
Grant Peres Emerging Tech
The article is written by Angela West and focuses on social bookmarking and its social impacts. She also highlights Facebook and Twitter and their relevance to social bookmarking. Are they killing the trend or adding to the excitement? West talks about how businesses should react and take advantage of this trend. Social bookmarking is a trend that is here to say and can reaped large benefits in the future if businesses get involved. There are ad campaigns that have already launched based around social bookmarking being used as a platform. Beyond that, a business doesn’t need to do much to take advantage of social bookmarking sites besides offer content worthy enough to be bookmarked. Social bookmarking relates to emerging technologies because it is an important web categories that has only gained popularity. Certain websites remain as "go to" sites because they are well established as social bookmarking sites. Their reputations direct users towards them. Users then use the sites as tools to find quick and easy information as well as discuss topics of interest to them. Pinterest has huge web traffic and serves as a prime example of the purpose of social bookmarking.

TED Talk Reaction
I partially agree with the Ted Talk; I think that a lack of communication can be a problem, but I don't acknowledge that it is to the extent she is describing. Part of my skepticism stems from her lack of Ethos and data. She rattled off several prime examples of people who were socially awkward or who had no urge to interact with others. I will not change any of my current habits because I believe I am well above the social comfort level of my peers. My parents always strived for me to talk to adults and kids instead of them asking for me. I am perfectly comfortable with being alone and have no problems with short solitude. I will however, inculcate these values into my children because I want them to have the same advantages I do.

PSA Reflection
I learned important statistics about neglect, conservation, and physical fitness. Their messages conveyed their emotional ties to the subject they were presenting. None of the PSAs had a large impact on me, but I thought the best were Evan's on fitness, Kira's on Relationship Abuse, and Chris's on Water Conservation. I though they were powerful because of their message and passion. Everyone chose their topic because of the significance it had to them. At first, I was worried about this PSA assignment because I wasn't familiar with moviemaker. After working with it for a while I became more comfortable with the technology. I think this project was important in order to demonstrate a understanding of emerging tech and common problems we should address.

Kids these days...

Kids these days don't understand the value of a dollar. They don't know how to have a conversation and spend too much time on their technology and electronic devices. They have become very desensitized to the surrounding world and trauma that faces people of different socio-economic classes every day. The world around us is always changing and there is beauty everywhere: all you have to do is look.

How to Make a Good PSA
It can take a lot to make a good PSA. The most important part is always your message. You need to stand behind the message you are spreading and supporting. Your audience with see and replicate your passion and achieve your purpose. Use royalty free music and create more of an atmosphere. Statistics appeal to the logical readers while an admonitory tone will persuade those more easily influenced by there emotions and empathy. Your PSA must capture the attention of the audience whether it is from humor, images, or distinct statistics.

PSA
PSAs or Public Service Announcements are statements made by certain organizations and occasionally the government, to spread awareness about a particular topic or issue. They can relate to smoking, drinking, public safety, etc. I don't believe PSAs are effective because they typically come off as too manufactured, cliche, or cheesy. People don't respond to a message differently if they have heard the same message before. The most iconic, innovative, and impactful PSA I have seen is "Dumb Ways to Die". It is creative, humorous, and has also generated over 100 million views on YouTube. PSAs are a necessary evil because they do change the actions of many individuals.

Prezi vs. Powerpoint
Powerpoint is much easier to use. I am much more familiar with Powerpoint and have used it numerous times. I think they both present meaningful presentations but PowerPoint is more interactive. I know how to have slide and text animations along with backgrounds for each slide. I think prezi has certain qualities unique to it like the slide transition feature of a much larger picture. I will use PowerPoint next time i make a presentation because it is easier, faster, and just as effective.

My reaction to "Words for Teenagers"
I completely agree what the judge is saying. The world doesn't owe anyone anything. It is our job and responsibility to show the world what we have to offer and do our best to achieve that purpose. It doesn't have to be charity. It doesn't have to be generosity. You can be a completely selfish shark who isn't afraid to make the hard choices. That will be your purpose. That's can be what you offer. The world is expanding exponentially and it is not afraid if you are left in the dust. You must do your best to keep up with this ever-changing planet. You define your destiny.
